"Tempted to Settle"

Writer: Reginald ReavesReginald Reaves

Tired of being alone, you begin to see potential in people that you otherwise would not have considered. "Maybe if I work on them, they will change," you say. But working on people is not your job, that's God's job alone. You now lower your expectations and standards. Your focus is fuzzy; your outlook is grim. The person you're with is not the one; God has shown you that, your heart understands that, and maybe even that person has told you. But you hold on because you feel that having someone is better than having no one.

God's best for your life is not that you settle for less than His perfect will for you. Who He has for you is not a perfect person, because none of us are; but that person is just right for you. Your season of love awaits you. It's a matter of (prayer and preparation). Being alone is your time to get ready, to disconnect from your past, and to draw closer to God.

That person is being prepared for you, just as God is preparing you for them. In His time and in His (faithful way), while you're busy becoming the person He's called you to be, God's plan for you will come to pass; but whatever you do, don't settle.

From the heart and hand of Pastor Reginald Reaves
