Not too long ago, I had to drop something off at my parent's house. They weren't home, but because I have a key, no problem; or so I thought. I made my way there, opened the door with the key, and reached for the alarm keypad to input the code. I typed in the digits, but the alarm continued to count down. As seconds ticked away, I suddenly realized, "I had forgotten the code!"
I quickly called my parents, but they didn't answer. Oh no! Times up, the alarm is screaming. Within a matter of minutes, the police were pulling up and I'm wondering how is this going to play out. Thankfully, after I explained that I had simply drew a blank on what the passcode was, he just needed to see my key work. After I turned the deadbolt with my key, he was on his way.
The key on my keychain, was enough for him to believe that I had the right to open the door and had been given access by my parents to enter their home . Keys, passcodes, and passwords are extremely important in our day like never before. We use them to lock/unlock everything like our cars, homes, computers, devices, etc. One of the worst feelings is when you misplace your keys or think that someone has stolen them. We try to be creative when we set up our passwords so that it won't be easy for someone to figure out.
I find it interesting that so many give out the keys to their heart to those that aren't deserving; access to their mind, access to their body, access to the deepest parts of their being. Some people aren't meant to be around for the long term, but are in your life for a season. Others, are like a robber, and are only in your life to ransack you. From friendships to romantic interests, don't give access to people carelessly, who mean you no good.
Ask yourself a question; who has keys to me? who have I given my passwords to? who can come and go as they please? When a person knows how to unlock you, they can take advantage of you because they are aware of your secret codes. Just when you think you have expelled them from your life, they come marching right back because they know which buttons to push. But the beautiful thing about keys, is that the locks can be changed; passcodes and passwords can be changed. To those that mean you no good, ACCESS DENIED! To the ones that don't treat you with love, dignity, and respect, PASSWORD DOESN'T MATCH OUR RECORDS!
Give the keys to your life to God almighty. He says in Revelation 3:20, "Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me". Grant Him access and allow Him to work in your life, unlocking all of your potential and your destiny. Think more purposefully, and be prayerful about who you allow to come into your life.
